What is a proofreader?

If your writing has typos or errors in spelling, capitalization, punctuation and grammar, you need a proofreader to correct these errors. This is normally done as the last step after copyediting.

What is a copyeditor?

A copyeditor improves your writing by fact-checking and making sure it is consistent, clear and formatted well. Your copyeditor will also review word choice and sentence structure while staying true to the writer's style and voice.

Which do I need?

Your content will be proofread as part of the process of copyediting. My goal is to get your writing ready for publication or printing. I will briefly assess your writing to determine whether it needs copyediting first before proofreading, as well as determine the level of time and attention your particular document will require.

What is the process?

Order your service. If you are not sure which you need, you may order the lowest cost service, which is light proofreading of 1000 words for $7.
Submit a document or link to your content by selecting "Attach Files Here" under "Contact Me" just below the FAQs. I will review and determine if your writing needs more or less work than what was selected, and adjust the rate accordingly. You will then be charged the remainder of the cost based on the service required. I will never adjust the cost without first discussing the adjustment with you.
Receive edit suggestions along with a final product. Additional revisions available.

I want buy entire manuscript reviewed. How large a file can I submit?

Individual files cannot exceed 10 MB. If multiple files are uploaded the total cannot exceed 15 MB. If you have more than 15 MB, I will review it as a sample and you will be able to submit the rest to me later on.

What if I only want proofreading and you notice other problems?

In addition to the final proofread version, you will receive a copy of your original submission with edit suggestions. This will include the proofreading suggestions as well as any other suggestions. I want you to end up with the best possible final product, so if I notice an error associated with copywriting, I will make a note so you are aware of the issue.

I want to know the total cost before I order. Can I show you my work and hear the final rate first?

Absolutely. For no charge I will evaluate your content and let you know the cost. After your free quote, you can decide whether or not to order a service.

How long will it take to get my final product?

This depends on word count as well as which service is required. An email requiring only light proofreading will be completed much more quickly than a 10,000-word story requiring heavy copyediting.
